Glass Assignment

Today in Studio Craft we did the glass assignment. The idea I originally had for the assignment was this dreamy concept but it did not work for various reasons (backdrop too wrinkled, etc). Here is what I did end up shooting. The first polaroid was too bright (f5.6@1/4 metering for 64). The second was too dark (f5.6@1/15 metering for 100). The third was right on (f8@1/4 metering for 100). We then shot film transperencies 64T color for 4x5. One shot was normal (f5.6 1/3@1/4 metering for 64) then one open 1 stop, open 1/2 stop, and the last - 1/2 stop. It should be interesting to see how everyone else did.

Open Studio

Here is a picture I found from the SCAD Open Studio last quarter. The photo grad students did a demo for the open studio exhibition celebrating the opening of the photography floor here at SCAD-Atlanta. This is Prof Turk and I testing out the 4x5 demostration with a polaroid back. The set up was to use strobes to catch the image of the person and then, with the shutter still open use flashlights to draw with the light. Pretty effective since photography literaly means in Greek "to paint with light".

New Stuff

So, I'm pretty excited because I spent a lot of monies on camera gear. I got a speedlite 550ex. I also got a zigview which is a live view through the eye piece of the camera. It spins 360 degrees so I can see it from all directions. I think this device will help me while taking pictures of bands allowing me to get crazy angles while not having to sit on the floor. I also got film and a printfile case for my negatives. I got some items at the wal-mart for my studio craft glass assignment for tuesday.

Here are some pictures from Lenny's Bar from the Jan. 10 th. The bands where called Judi Chicago, Tenth to the Moon, Porches on the Autobahn. The first two bands are Atlanta local bands and the last band is from Germany on a cross country tour. They are Electronic/Indie. Check these guys out. They are pretty sweet.
